Customers on the "grid supply" tariff can sell excess power back to the utility, but at wholesale, not retail rates. "Self supply" customers do not get compensated for exported power and are expected to consume all generation on site.
The new offering from Maui-based HiVE’s Energy appears poised to tap into the state’s self supply market.
The commercial system the company just deployed aims to deliver energy free of natural fluctuations that occur due to sunshine variations, and also provide power once the sun goes down. And HiVE says its new residential storage system could allow a customer to eliminate their monthly utility bills.

Half a world away, the second Global RE-Invest India-ISA Renewable Energy Investors Exposition was held on October 3-5, 2018 in New Delhi. This exposition also included meetings of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) and the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) Renewable Energy Ministers. The RE-Invest Exposition showcases India's clean energy market and the government's efforts to increase capacity.
